A judge has ruled that the man accused of charging toward the U.S. Capitol with a loaded shotgun on Tuesday will remain behind bars for now.
WASHINGTON – Carter Camacho, 18, of Smyrna, Georgia, was charged in a complaint Wednesday with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm within the United States Capitol Buildings or Grounds in connection to carrying a loaded shotgun onto federal property, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) arrested an 18-year-old man with a gun in front of the Capitol on Tuesday. USCP Chief Michael Sullivan told reporters that just after 12 p.m. EST, a white Mercedes SUV parked in the 100 block of Maryland Avenue.
U.S. Capitol Police that the individual was in custody and that there did not appear to be other suspects or an ongoing threat.
